About So-Called Living

So-Called Living is a different kind of vampire story set in a world where the extraordinary is ordinary, where vampires, werewolves, and zombies are part of everyday life. When Jack becomes a vampire, his life flips overnight, and he has no choice but to lean on close friends and unexpected allies as he learns to adapt to his new way of “living.”

But when the mob catches wind of a new baby vampire in town, their interest turns dangerous, putting Jack and everyone close to him in their crosshairs.

Mark Maia

Creator/writer: So-Called Living

Mark Maia is a writer and creative director with over 26 years of experience across comics, video games, and interactive media. He is the creator and writer of the dark comedy comic series So-Called Living. Mark has also contributed writing to Toronto Comics, including work published in Volume 2.

In the video game industry, Mark has worked as a writer, game designer, and creative lead on more than 70 titles. His credits include projects with Big Blue Bubble, Disney, Fox, Mattel, DICE, EA Games, Nintendo, Nickelodeon and Skybound Entertainment. His work on a Fox-published title earned a BAFTA Award, recognizing excellence in interactive design and storytelling.

Mark brings the same mix of humor, heart, and imagination to his comics that he’s known for in his other creative ventures.
